Contrary to what we might think, ranch water is not water. It is a tequila highball drink often found in Texas and other southern states, and made of silver tequila, fresh lime and Topo Chico sparkling mineral water.
How to Make Ranch Water
Ranch water is a classic Texas-style cocktail everyone should try at least once. Luckily, even true beginners can make it with this easy homemade recipe. Ingredients are easy to find at your local supermarket and include:
- 1 ½ oz – Silver Tequila
- 2 Wedge – Lime
- ½ oz – Fresh Lime Juice
- 3 oz – Topo Chico Mineral water

Time to spice up your summer drinks! This Texas Ranch Water recipe is perfect for a day at the beach, a backyard bbq, or a simple night on the porch! Soak up the sun and remember to hydrate!
Ingredients
- 1 ½ oz – Tequila (blanco)
- 2 Wedge – Lime
- ½ oz – Lime juice
- 3 oz – Topo Chico Mineral water
- ¼ t – El Capitan - Baja Chili Citrus Taco Seasoning & Rub
Directions
- Rub the rim of a rocks glass with the lime and then dip into El Capitan to rim the glass.
- Fill the glass ¾ with ice.
- Pour in the tequila, lime juice and add the lime wedges.
- Top with Mineral water and enjoy!
