Nothing says "Hello Summer" like Root Beer Ribs! Smothered in our Bourbon Barrel and Root Beer sauce! Sweet, tender, juicy melt-in-you-mouth amazing ribs!
Ingredients
- 1 Rack – Pork back Ribs
- 2 TB – Olive Oil
-
¾ Cup – Blue Ribbon Competition Style Rib Rub
- 2 Bottles – Root Beer (20 oz each)
- 1 Stick – Butter
-
¾ Cup – Bourbon Barrel BBQ Sauce
Directions
- Pat the ribs dry with paper towel and remove the membrane from the underside of the ribs.
- Drizzle the ribs with olive oil and then rub it in to evenly coat. The oil will be the binder for the rub.
- Generously season the ribs on all sides with Blue Ribbon rub. Allow to sit at room temperature while your smoker preheats.
- Preheat smoker to 275 degrees.
- Place the ribs directly on the smoker. Smoke for 3 hours.
- At this point the rub should be well adhered to the meat and not easily rub off.
- Place the ribs on a piece of heavy-duty foil. Pour 4 oz of root beer onto each rack and add 2 TB of butter to each rack as well.
- Wrap up the ribs and place them back on the smoker, meat side down for about 1 ½ hours or until the meat is probe tender. (about 200 degrees internal)
- Pour the remaining root beer into a sauce pot and reduce to ½ cup.
- Add remaining butter and Bourbon Barrel BBQ sauce to the root beer reduction and stir until well combined.
- Remove the ribs from the wrap and place on a tray.
- Baste the ribs with the root beer BBQ sauce and then place back on the smoker, one more time, for about 20 minutes to tack on the sauce.
- Rest for 5 minutes before serving.
