Oktoberfest Beer Can Chicken

Brew up some serious flavor with our Oktoberfest-inspired Beer Can Chicken. Oktoberfest is more than just a festival, it's a seasonal beer style that signals the start of fall. Traditionally a copper-colored lager, Oktoberfest beers have a toasty, malty sweetness that adds amazing flavors and moistness to your traditional roasted chicken.

Prep time: 5 minutes
Cook time: 50 minutes
Serves: 2-4

Ingredients:
1 Whole Chicken, about 3-4 lbs. 
1 can Oktoberfest Beer (12 oz)
2 T California Garlic Pepper 

Instructions:

  1. Preheat grill to medium-high heat, or 425° F.

  2. Rinse whole chicken under cold water and pat dry with paper towels. Thoroughly season the chicken, including the cavity, with poultry seasoning.

  3. Sit the chicken on top of the beer can, then place in the center of the preheated grill and cover. Cook the chicken for 45-50 min, or until an instant-read thermometer registers 165° F.

  4. Remove from grill, and allow to rest 15-20 minutes. Remove can from the cavity, carve and serve.
