Remembering Our Founder: Harold Hanni: 1931 - 2015
  • PS Seasoning Chef

Today we celebrate the life of Pro Smoker ’N Roaster’s founder and visionary Harold Hanni (Sept. 14, 1931 - July 20, 2015). Harold was a true leader who built his life around service and left a legacy of honor and respect.
Anyone that knew Harold knew that his mission in life was to serve. Whether it was his customers, his community or his country, Harold’s commitment to service ran deep. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean Conflict, a member of the Mayville American Legion and a member of the Iron Ridge Fire Department.
He was an active resident of Iron Ridge serving as trustee on the Village Board as well as the Advancement Association and Iron Ridge Lions.
Harold served his family, his community and his country, and he brought this same level of commitment to his businesses Pro Smoker ’N Roaster and PS Seasoning & Spices. It was passion that led him to develop his first homemade smoker oven in 1975 his dedication that brought him to teach his five sons the family tradition.
Lessons of dedication, passion and customer service laid the foundation for the family business and are carried on today. Harold was happy that he had cultivated such a large group of passionate people dedicated to good honest work.
Being out in nature was Harold’s favorite place. He especially enjoyed heading up north to Boulder Junction, Wisconsin where he loved to hunt and fish.
Family was always the most important part of his life and nothing made him more happy than spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Today we honor the legacy of Harold Hanni and thank him for the lessons. Follow your passions and do right by others always.

I remember shooting my first deer as a youth. Not knowing what to do with it Harold told me how to clean it up and bring it over to his house. In his basement he made me the best tasting sausage I have ever tasted. You will never be forgotten. Steve Mueller

Today you will celebrate his life but will still remember his story forever. Thanks for giving me my fist job and that chance at life and showing me how it works by letting me learn at PS Seasoning and Spice . Thank you for the memories and time spent there. My heart goes out to the Hanni family and also my niece Bethany B that was treated the same by your family and friends. Thanks
